Congratulations to Roland Bauer April’s athlete of the month.
Your favorite class time?
What is your biggest accomplishment since joining CFS?
I couldn’t narrow it down to just one. The first was finishing the Spartan Race last year. I think of it as the CrossFit proving grounds. The second was being able to complete the Opens this year without a scaled workout.
What is your advice to new folks?
Leave your ego at the door. It was a huge reality check for me when I needed a green band to do pull ups, but you need to start somewhere. Set aside all that negative energy and just keep moving. Also track your progress. I have all my stats since I started. This gives you a goal to shoot for and a sense of accomplishment when you beat your previous time/weights.
What is your dream car to drive?
Porsche 911 Carrera 4S
What was your first experience with CFS like?
My first CFS experience started on March 12, 2013 after my daughter said to me “Dad, are you just going to walk the dog?” That night I started in foundations with CC after a little Q&A with friend Julie Winston on how this CrossFit stuff works. The first WOD was Adrian – forward rolls in a workout – I got this….NOT!. Even with lots of scales, this thing kicked my butt. After that week, I never looked back.
What is your favorite CrossFit movement?
Rowing, Wall Balls, Rope Climbs, Power Cleans
If you could pick an age to freeze at in life what would it be and why?
Definitely would say now. I’m in better shape, wiser, and finally figured out a good work/life balance. Family is healthy and happy.
I would also would like to thank the CFS coaches for your motivation to push past what my mind and body thinks it can’t do.
