May athlete of the month.

Congratulations to Erica Cronan May athlete of the month! Let’s get to know Erica a little better with some questions below.

Erca

Your favorite class time?

8:30am Bootcamp or 9:30am or Noon CrossFit

What is your biggest accomplishment since joining CFS?

Besides getting “real” pull-ups and push-ups, I’d say that PR’ing a 5k by over 2 minutes without even training for the race was an accomplishment for me (thanks to CrossFit!)

What is your advice to new folks?

Be ready to have fun! Do what works best for you in terms of scaling the movements. I promise that you’ll meet great people as soon as you walk through the door, and you’ll feel amazing after every WOD.

If you could play a professional sport what would it be and why?

Soccer.  I started playing when I was 8 years old, and I have never stopped. Playing is so much fun and therapy for me.  If that pro soccer career failed, I’d hit the ice for hockey.

What was your first experience with CFS like?

I’ll never forget my first class. It was a 6:30am on a Tuesday in May a few years ago. I spent hours the day before talking to Ann and Tim Merry about what to expect, so I could be prepared for my first WOD. I was so nervous that I’d forget everything that I learned in Foundations… but they were right that every class starts with a warm-up and a thorough walk-through of the movements… so there is nothing to worry about. John was coaching that morning, and the WOD was mainly focused on strength (bench press) with a short MetCon at the end.  I LOVED it!  I felt great the entire day, and I couldn’t wait to get right back at it the next day.  I love that every workout is constantly varied – I have never done that same WOD again!

What is your favorite CrossFit movement?

Burpees, box jumps, and wall balls

What is your favorite all time meal?

Pizza – any kind, any time of day

Where would you go on your dream vacation?

I would go to any island, but Nevis tops the list. A dream vacation for me would be a beach WOD, run, or yoga every morning and then relaxing on the beach all day with my family.

  1. So well deserved Erica! You’re such an inspiration to me! You’re an amazing athlete who I could picture on the Women’s National Soccer Team AND the Women’s National Ice Hockey Team! But I suspect you’re exactly where you want to be! I’m so happy that I get to join you at those WODs!
