Congratulations to Sami Osman, June Athlete of The Month! Let’s get to know Sami a little better with some questions below!
When and how did you get started with us? Started fall of 2018. Moved from Cambridge. Bought a house in Ashland, hence the move. I tried out a bunch of places near by, and this one (CFS) is the only one that had awesome music (Hannah’s playlist), great people, challenging workouts and a welcoming environment.
What is your biggest accomplishment since joining CFS? I am already accomplished…haha…just kidding, but…thanks to John B.’s handstand walk drills, I’m able to get a few steps in now. Hopefully, more to come.
What is your favorite CrossFit movement? There are several…but if I had to choose, I’d say squat cleans, rope-climbs, and overhead squats are pretty up there.
What is your favorite CrossFit workout? Badger and White (My first CFS workout!)…well balanced WODs that contain cardio/endurance, gymnastic-type movement and weights.
What is your advice to new folks? JUST DO IT! Don’t compare yourself to others…compete with yourself. Finish with a smile…otherwise what is the point.
What is something you have always wanted to do but haven’t gotten around to yet? Soon I will get around to taking pilot lessons…once the weather stabilizes.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of work and CrossFit? Eating, and going to Kauaʻi.
What is your favorite holiday and why? The weekend…I don’t have to wait long for that.
What are 3 of your favorite books you’ve read throughout the years? Recent ones include Emperor of all Maladies, Quiet, and I re-read a bunch of Sidney Sheldon’s books.
What is something most people would not know about you? I never had a social media account. Also, I am in a fight with chipmunks who are building tunnels outside my home!
Thanks for sharing Sami!
Yay Sami!! It has been fantastic having you at CFS – I’m so glad you joined (and that Hanna had a good playlist going!) I admire your talent and skills and so welcome your advice and feedback and willingness to help. You make things that are not easy look effortless! I have enjoyed getting to know you and look forward to watching you add to your repertoire! Congratulations!!
Nice job Sami! You’re the quiet, natural talent who just gets it done. I like watching your dubs technique – it’s truly impressive! Glad you found CFS and have made it your home.
Well deserved Sami! You crush every workout.
Good luck with the chipmunk battle. I may know an 11 year old with a certain set of skills in this particular area.
Congratulations Sami!! So very deserving 🤗. Happy you’ve found your CF home at CFS!
