Ryan in action on the slopes!
Congratulations to Ryan Van Epps , November Athlete of The Month! Let’s get to know Ryan a little better with some questions below.
When and how did you get started with us?
I got started in January of ‘14 after Stacy convinced me to take a free class and give it a shot and got hooked pretty quickly.
What is your biggest accomplishment since joining CFS?
There’s definitely been a lot, but if I had to narrow it down I’d have to say my running. Had never been much of a runner prior to CFS but now I’m running a sub 6 minute mile!
What is your favorite CrossFit movement?
Power cleans!
What is your advice to new folks?
I would say consistency and intensity. Keep walking through the door and remember that you get out of it what you put into it!
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning a medal for?
Hmm, tough question. I know my way around a charcoal grill pretty well so let’s go with that
What is the luckiest thing that has ever happened to you? (Not meeting Stacy;)
I guess I’m still waiting for my lucky break, but Stacy and Maggie make me feel pretty lucky 😉
What are your top two favorite movies of all time?
That’s kind of like asking which is your favorite kid, but I do love mindless comedies like airplane and step brothers
If you were stranded alone and had to survive for 30 days on a dessert island what are 3 survival tools would want with you and why?
Let’s see, id probably bring a fishing pole so I can eat, a fire source to cook and my iPhone so I can google all of the above!
What’s the farthest you’ve ever been from home?
Crete, Greece
What is your favorite holiday and why?
I’d have to say Thanksgiving because of the food and more importantly the official kick-off to the ski season!
If you were in a karaoke contest to win a million dollars what song would you sing?
I’m definitely not winning that million, but I’d probably go with something by the Grateful Dead
What is something most people would not know about you?
I’ve spent most of my life rooting for the Miami Dolphins
Ryan thanks for sharing!
Congratulations Ryan!! Very well-deserved!
I love that you said “you get out of it what you put into it”. I am always in awe of how hard you push yourself. Your effort is really motivating to others in class.
