Spartan Race Day-We will be meeting at Crossfit Synergistics @ 11:30 am and figure out carpooling from there.
Race Day Packet Pickup will be required for all racers. We recommend planning to arrive on-site at least 1.5 hours prior to your scheduled start time, to allow time for check-in.
Please bring:
- Photo ID (racers under 18, accompanied by a parent or guardian do not need a photo ID).
- Your registration receipt with the barcode (for more details, please visit 2019: How do I find my barcode?)
“Success is where opportunity meets preparation.” — a Wise Spartan
As race day approaches, you might be getting a little nervous. Did you pack everything you need? Are you wearing the right clothes for the race? Check out these race-day prep checklists to make sure you are prepared.
WHAT TO WEAR:
- Lightweight, breathable, quick-drying top, underwear and shorts.
- Thin, breathable socks. (No cotton.)
- Light sneakers with good drainage and traction.
- Sunscreen.
WHAT TO BRING:
- ID, money and directions to and from the race venue.
- A bag for the rest of your gear. (Tip: put an identifying mark on it to make it easy to find.)
- A complete extra outfit. (You’ll want to change after the race. Flip flops are a popular choice.)
- Bath towel.
- Large plastic bag for dirty clothes.
MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS, “JUST IN CASE”:
- Snacks.
- Extra money for food, beer and merch.
MORE VETERAN TIPS:
- Bring on-person hydration, such as a hydration pack, for Super- and Beast-distance races; stash gels, food bars or your fuel of choice in the hydration pack.
- Ensure your gas tank is filled up, and have a cooler loaded with your favorite healthy recovery snacks and drinks to snack on as you drive home.
- Leave the sunglasses and hat in your bag. (They might not make it to the finish line.)
If anyone is reading this, a couple of other suggestions:
1. Wear socks will cover your legs. There will be a rope climb and there may be an obstacle where you pull yourself horizontally along a rope that is suspended between two structures. Sam Lamp’s husband did that with short socks three years ago and cut open the skin by his Achilles tendon. It then got dirt/mud in it and got infected to the extent that he had to get inter-venous antibiotics.
2. Wear a pair of shoes you can just throw out when you are done. They likely won’t be able to be cleaned up at the end of the race.
3. I’m wearing the team shirt from last year. If you didn’t do it last year but know someone who did see if you can borrow their shirt.
4. Dana should wear a weighted vest to make it fair.
